The music for the show is written by Maxim Dunaevsky, a Honored artist of Russia, a composer, a real son of his father - the great and well known all over the world composer Isaak Dunaevsky, a Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1950), two Stalin’s awards winner (1941, 1951), who created the music for more than 13 operettas and ballets, a few dozens of Russian movies and a bunch of popular soviet songs. Maxim Dunaevsky is famous himself as a composer for 30 noted soviet movies such as The Carnival, Ah, Vaudeville, Vaudeville, The Green Wagon, The 2Children of Captain Grant, Mary Poppins, Goodbye! and a list of fabulous Russian musicals: D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers, The Flying Ship, Love and Espionage.
The Scarlet Sails libretto is a result of two poets’ cooperation – the national award Musical Heart of Theatre winners - Andrey Bartenev and Mikhail Bartenev. Another Musical Heart of Theatre winner – Evgeny Zagot is a musical director and an arranger of the show.
The show’s choreography is done by Elena Bogdanovich, the student of eminent soviet artist and choreographer Yuri Grigorovich, she was doing the choreography for Bolshoi Theatre as well during her career. The costume designer is Olga Shagalina (best Russian spectacle of the year 2007 for Figaro (Ekaterinburg).
The director of Scarlet Sails musical is Svetlana Gorshkova. She was working as a member of the cast in several Moscow theatres, movies and television series, she also writes her own scripts and plays. As a director she made a short movie "Remember Me" and staged a play-lesson "Five Crows" within the framework of the project Five theatrical schools of the world. The head of School of Musical named the Musical Heart Of The Theatre.
The Scarlet Sails casting lasted for 3 months, over 1500 Russian artists took a part in it but only 70 were chosen – the best performers our country’s future hope is connected with, recently worked in greatest Russian musical productions like Nord-Ost, The Count Orlov, Monte-Cristo, Dance of the Vampires, MAMMA MIA!, The Sound Of Music, CHICAGO, Jekyll and Hyde, Beauty and the Beast etc.
The Scarlet Sails project was successfully produced as a two capitals musical: the opening shows took place in autumn 2013 in Moscow and in the spring 2014 in Saint-Petersburg, the place where Alexander Grin’s novel about love and hope was written. The musical was warmly accepted by experienced theatre experts and common spectators, sold out in each city. More than 40 000 spectators saw the show in total, some of them came for that from different cities specially.
The latest version of the musical appeared in February 2015. In this version the cast including the stars of musical genre were advanced to the forefront. The story started to be more romantic and soulful. The show now is more flexible and mobile so its touring opportunities are higher.
The organic mix of high-level music from one of the most well known Russian composers, the dramatic material full of passion and drama, as well as the technical teams work creates a wide response in spectators’ hearts.

The moveable wooden desks and special structure of the show allows the ability to build on the stage any object from a sea light house to even a boat. Speaking of modern elements in the show you can be surprised by the circus tricks and special effects. All that only updates the outstanding music of Maxim Dunaevsky.
The dynamic action takes the audience from the very first seconds and with a sea wave power it flows us through a few emotional moments of the show to the final catharsis – the strong never-give-up happy end.This light and colorful production including the new stage technologies and decisions together with perfect acting of musical cast and its beautiful voices is a really unforgettable show to see for adults and kids.For our little spectators there is a special program opened named “The school of theatrical education”, it has no equivalent in Russia. During its classes for the senior high school students the theatre teachers analyze a musical show as a piece of art as well as they prepare kids to be the audience and using the techniques of working with professional artists they teach children to be more relaxed, to believe in themselves and their power, to deal with the reality around them and to find the possibilities for self-realization.
In summer of 2015 The Scarlet Sails will be shown in Saint-Petersburg (July, 1 - 26) and Sochi (August, 6 - 30) .
